New Author Debunking Myths About What Makes Women Beautiful

Expert Image Consultant and author of newly released book, With Style and Amazing Grace, Aleysha R. Proctor, is boldly shattering long-standing myths and stereotypes, while redefining the way women perceive beauty forever. She is turning on its ear the notion that women are defined by what they look like on the outside, and replacing it with a more balanced approach. Her book and accompanying journal can be found and purchased at http://www.withstyleandamazinggrace.com.

At a time when celebrity worship and unrealistic beauty standards are the order of the day, millions of women throughout the U.S. are left feeling inadequate, insecure, and insignificant. This comes as no surprise. According to the Media Awareness Network, researchers report that women's magazines have ten and one-half times more ads and articles promoting weight loss than men's magazines do, and over three-quarters of the covers of women's magazines include at least one message about how to change a woman's bodily appearance--by diet, exercise or cosmetic surgery.

"Far too many women suffer from low self-esteem," says Proctor. "Unfortunately, they don't see their own worth." This is precisely why she's using With Style and Amazing Grace as a tool to aggressively challenge negatively skewed and unhealthy views of beauty. "I want women to realize that beauty begins on the inside and then manifests on the outside," says Proctor.

Make no mistake. In her attempts to nurture inward beauty, she by no means neglects outward beauty-- Au contraire, Proctor shares her exclusive insider advice on how to make an entire wardrobe from only ten items of clothing. Plus, she reveals to women exactly how to maximize their beauty potential, by understanding the best ways to make the most flattering style choices.

Proctor's message is catching on with an international audience of women. With Style and Amazing Grace will be featured in the brand new August Issue of Empowering Everyday Women Online Magazine, the premier online magazine for African American Christian women. She will be sharing her "Top 10 Best Beauty Tips of the Year," with thousands of EEW Magazine readers. To get her elegant style and beauty advice, log onto http://www.eewmagazine.com beginning August 6, 2007.

"Her warm, fun, reader-friendly style make With Style and Amazing Grace a delight to read," say editorial reviewers at EEW Magazine. The book thoroughly addresses the ins and outs of what it takes for women to achieve optimal levels of beauty, happiness, and fulfillment.

Never one-dimensional in her approach, Proctor also gives sound advice on how to nurture and enhance spiritual beauty, to ensure that the inside matches the outside. Her practical expertise is skillfully interwoven with spiritual wisdom, resulting in a refreshingly balanced and holistic view of beauty.

"Aleysha Proctor shows [you] how to make your inner beauty shine through. With chapters on leadership, excellence and having humanity, this is a book full of the practical wisdom of an author who lives her philosophy," say reviewers at Xlibris Publishing. Its rich contents are sure to have women turning pages and turning heads. "Beauty meets spiritual self-help," is the perfect way to describe With Style and Amazing Grace.

Readers to Witness the Rise and Fall of Spade Cooley

A gripping story of fame, family, and murder awaits readers as veteran writer-author Ellen Melinkoff gives readers a glance at the King of Western Swing's life. In this recently published book, Spade Cooley: A Novel, people will get to know Donnell Clyde Cooley, a Western swing musician, big band leader, and television personality, who was convicted for killing his second wife.

In the 1940s and '50s, Spade Cooley, the King of Western Swing, played to sellout crowds at the Santa Monica Ballroom. He charmed audiences with his fine fiddling, self-deprecating manner, and bounce-all-over-the-stage exuberance. Adapting his ballroom show for live television, The Spade Cooley Show began broadcasting in 1948 and made Cooley the top local television entertainer for several years.

He married one of his band singers, Ella Mae Evans. Their fifteen-year marriage was plagued with Cooley's drunk and jealous rage and ended with Cooley beating his wife to death. The front-page trial ended with Cooley's conviction in 1961. But how will Cooley fare inside the prison walls—and out of the limelight?

Spade Cooley: A Novel lets readers follow the rise to stardom and the rock-bottom fall of one of the well-admired and applauded musicians of the twentieth century.

Eva Alexander's A/W 2012 Maternity Wear Collection is a Modern Take on Iconic Classics - Maternity has Never Looked so Stylish

One favourite from the collection is the knit maternity dress. This season the ponte knit dress is the must have for every woman's closet and the brighter the color the better. The View’s Daytime Emmy® Award-Winning Talk Show Co-Host, Sherri Shepherd Helps College Students Feed Homeless Veterans

Founded in 2000, EMBRACE is a nonprofit organization that provides social and physical wellness programs serving underprivileged communities in San Diego, CA. Embrace programs are designed to connect college students to the multi-cultural community through volunteerism and service-learning. The organization is built on the philosophy of UNITY and encourages serving less fortunate members of civilian and veteran communities by bringing women's jackets people together irrespective of their race, religion or cultural upbringing.

Sean Sheppard, founder of EMBRACE was leading a group of college student volunteers to serve the homeless and while serving, Mr. Sheppard met Debbie Clark who played the character "Storm" on American Gladiators from 1991 to 1993. Clark, now 47 became homeless after an injury to her knee which ended her American Gladiator career. Sean Sheppard helped the homeless Ex-American Gladiator and her son by providing shelter and food and reached out to others for assistance. The media became aware of his efforts to aid mother and son, including AOL News, who wrote an article on this unfortunate story of an American Gladiator that was now homeless.

After reading the AOL News story of Storm and her son's homelessness, Sherri Shepherd began her support by providing Clark and son with 6 months of rent along with utilities. Since then, Sherri Shepherd has been a fan of EMBRACE and on May 24, 2011 she announced on The View talk show that she and fiancée, Lamar Sally would like their wedding guests and fans to donate to EMBRACE in lieu of wedding gifts for their upcoming August wedding. "The compassion & dedication that Sean displays everyday in helping those less fortunate is what drew me to the Embrace organization," said Sherri Shepherd.

EMBRACE has provided food, clothing, blankets and referrals to thousands homeless veterans and civilians that include women and children. The organization is comprised mostly of college student volunteers who donate their time and talent each week to serve the community in a variety of ways. Since the economic downturn, their focus has been on homeless civilian and veteran populations. "Just like water and solar power, college students are a natural resource that is routinely underutilized when it comes to addressing community problems. They care little about skin color, political affiliation, religious beliefs or ethnicity; they just want to help those who need it. They have been an invaluable resource to the Southern California community in a multitude of ways," said Sheppard.

"EMBRACE is very appreciative that Sherri Shepherd is assisting to serve the homeless population in San Diego through her time, talent, and resources. The homeless civilian and veteran populations are increasing as is the operating cost associated with a growing organization. We rely on donations, grants and corporate sponsorship and feel blessed that Sherri was compelled to assist us in such a personal way to shed light on EMBRACE's cause, "added Sean Sheppard.

Even more top designer labels now available at sexy lingerie online retailer Ladyloca.co.uk, lowest prices anywhere in the UK together exceptional with customer service

The best designer labels at the best possible prices is something of an expectancy from consumers of sexy lingerie products, that's why Ladyloca.co.uk have once again took the initiative and sourced even better high quality products at the lowest possible prices from the most distinguished brands within the lingerie industry.

Any reputable retailer of women's clothing and sexy lingerie will agree that only authentic high quality clothing should be presented to customers, certainly not cheap imitation goods that may look rather tempting in regards to pricing but fail miserably in regards to quality.

The online women's lingerie industry contains both a combination of both reputable retailers and those other rather dubious retailers that are promoting the sale of imitation goods that propose to be the real deal but in fact simply are not, leaving customers to feel the ultimate sense of frustration and anguish when they receive goods that are quite simply failing in quality and value for money.

It's a natural practice and rather understandable for customers to seek sexy clothing products at the best possible prices, however one must remain aware that the lowest price does not always mean the best value for money, the gulf in quality between imitation lingerie and authentic is vast and significant.

To achieve ultimate satisfaction and sense of fulfillment, customers are strongly advised to favour the authentic quality brands as opposed to the much cheaper and imitated goods that are available online, quality shall always prevail in the end, and what might look like a deal of a lifetime, usually in fact results in a sour transaction with no salvage or solution.

Ladyloca.co.uk can state with pride that only authentic products from the most established and reliable designer's from the women's lingerie and other clothing industries are featured within the Ladyloca.co.uk website, ensuring customers peace of mind that the products they are purchasing from Ladyloca.co.uk are of high quality and from reliable sources of manufacturing.

This new designer product ranges of lingerie and ladies costumes hitting the L women's coats adyloca.co.uk this week include Leg Avenue, LivC Corsetti and Chilirose to name but a few of, Ladyloca.co.uk is confident these new additions will become an instant success with customers given the proven track record and reputation of these well esteemed brands.

The International Women's Society of Nigeria Presents Its Humanitarian of the Year Award to Africa.com CEO Teresa Clarke

President Cecilia Aqua Umoren, the Executive Committee and Board of the International Women's Society (IWS) of Nigeria presented their Humanitarian of the Year Award to Africa.com Chairman and CEO Teresa Clarke on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.
Attorney Olayimika Phillips, a partner at Olaniwun Ajayi & Co, where she heads the enterprise practice as well as corporate affairs, planning and strategy, accepted the award on behalf of her long-time friend. Ms. Clarke had to be in South Africa for a meeting involving the education non-profit which she co-founded, the Student Sponsorship Programme (http://www.ssp.org.za/ ). However, she will be in Nigeria next week and plans to thank President Umoren in person.
In her prepared remarks, Ms. Clarke praised the 54-year old International Women's Society of Nigeria for its long history and its commitment to child care for working mothers, library services, and assisting the unemployed attain skills to enter the workforce. She said that future demands on the organization will be significant, given major trends domestically as well as internationally.
Ms. Clarke cited the United Nations' projection that by the end of this century, Nigeria will be one of the three largest countries in the world, based on current population and fertility rates.
Said Ms. Clarke: "It will be hard for the Nigerian government to keep up with the demands that this population growth will place on social services. Helping the Nigerian government serve the needs of women by providing day nurseries, homes for abandoned babies, library services, scholarships, skills training and the very important widow's fund, will be essential as the Nigerian population grows, and the needs of Nigeria's women increase accordingly. The work that IWS does for women in Nigeria will grow in its importance over the next 100 years."
Ms. Clarke also reflected on the IWS' increasingly important role in fostering relations across international borders, especially now that numerous global companies are "moving into Nigeria to serve Nigerians, not extract its natural resources." She noted that multinational companies "want to sell their products and services to the increasingly wealthy, and ever growing large population in Nigeria. They want to sell Nigerians their burgers, their cars, their clothes, and provide Nigerians with their computers, entertainment, and communications." She added: " These new global companies moving into Nigeria must develop meaningful, long term relationships in Nigeria, with the Nigerian people, in order to achieve success. They must know who these people are, understand them, and befriend them. The human aspect of this type of business is essential for their success. All of this means that IWS' role is fashion coats that much more important as Nigeria integrates itself into the global economy. "

Forbes Consulting MindSight(R) Research Unveils Rich Diversity of Emotions Driving Holiday Shoppers

New research by Forbes Consulting Group (http://www.forbesconsulting.com/) reveals that while many shoppers are turning out this holiday season, the emotions that drive them to stores differ greatly from person to person. Results from the study using the company's proprietary applied neuroscience technology, MindSight?, has revealed a unique shopper profile. More motivated than others by the "thrill" of shopping, one group pursues shopping almost as a "game," driven by the feelings of achieving success that go along with finding the perfect item or obtaining that great deal. In contrast, the motives driving other shoppers to the stores relate more strongly to the feelings of doing something special for loved ones in the holiday season.

"The MindSight? findings reveal that although most shoppers are highly motivated by a desire to take care of friends and family and express love during the holiday season, some shoppers derive intense emotional satisfaction from the experience of shopping," said Dr. David Forbes, Founder and CEO of Forbes Consulting Group. "These shoppers feel the emotions of winning and losing in the shopping experience. It's more competitive for them. Not surprisingly, these shoppers are more likely to begin their holiday shopping early, arrive at stores before they open to get a good spot in line and brave going out to the stores on Black Fridays or Super Saturdays."

The findings also show the timeless truth that the joy of the holidays is most of all about children. Parents and others buying toys and games for children feel excited about making kids feel loved, cared for and happy with their presents. Unlike other types of holiday shopping, shopping for kids appears distinctively worry-free with very little concern that kids will be disappointed with what they get for Christmas.

Shopping for Different Products Gives Rise to Different Emotional Experiences
The research conducted by Forbes Consulting also evaluated the emotions associated with top product categories for the holidays. The results indicate some surprising findings with implications for retailers.

  •     For men shopping for the women in their lives, perfume can convey that you understand and care about what she likes, and it can win her appreciation. For women, giving a man a new power tool has this same potential to show you understand and care. However, perfume and power tool gift purchases involve considerable trepidation about "getting it wrong" and seeming "incompetent" in the purchase process.
  •     Meanwhile, for experiencing sheer pleasure during the shopping experience, gourmet foods top the list. Shoppers enjoy a "mental feast" as they explore the wide range of delicious items on display, especially during the holidays. Gourmet food retailers could capitalize on the positive emotional shopping experience surrounding these purchases by ensuring shoppers have a way to engage more of the senses by offering taste samples.

"The MindSight? holiday shopper findings have important implications for retailers," said Dr. Jeremy Pincus, Principal at the Forbes Consulting Group and Lead Researcher on the project. "For 'thrill-seeking' shoppers, it's all about getting in, getting the deal and getting out of the store. This is particularly true in the early hours after a store opens, which is when these shoppers are more prevalent. Retailers obviously want to keep shoppers in stores browsing, but they could also benefit by making aspects of shopping, such as the check-out process, as efficient as possible. Strategies for targeting other shoppers include genuinely trying to reduce the anxieties men feel when shopping for perfume, for example, or women when they shop for power tools. Doing this could have a beneficial impact on holiday sales of these items."

About the Research and MindSight?
The research, conducted between November 29-December 5, 2011, included a quanti women's jackets tative survey with 2,014 participants in the U.S. between the ages of 18-65. Half of the participants were men and half were women. The survey covered the top shopping categories, including clothing, consumer electronics, entertainment/media, gourmet foods, arts and crafts, jewelry, perfume, spa services, power tools, small appliances, specialty alcohol, and children's toys.

The survey included the use of the proprietary Forbes Consulting MindSight? technology to evaluate shopper emotions and motivations.

  •     MindSight? enables researchers to "talk to the emotional brain." It utilizes a patent-pending technique of applied neuroscience to obtain authentic emotional insight from respondents before their conscious mind can edit responses.
  •     MindSight? can be used in small, qualitative studies as well as large-scale, quantitative studies with thousands of globally dispersed respondents. It delivers real-time results, cost-effectively, and can be deployed on mobile devices.
  •     MindSight? works by "talking with pictures," rapidly exposing a proprietary and statistically validated library of emotionally evocative images for respondents to react to – each image is linked to one category in Forbes Consulting's Unified Model of Human Motivation ? to explain respondent motivations (published in Review of General Psychology, June 2011).

New Education about Occupational Health and Menopausal Dry Eye on the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water

The same steps that prevent or minimize hot flashes will also prevent or minimize menopausal dry eye.

Sharon Kleyne, host of the Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water syndicated radio talk show, recently interviewed Laurie Barber, MD, Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Arkansas and a leading authority on dry eye syndrome and menopause. The discussion focused on occupational health, truck driving, motorcycles, computers and, of course, prevention of menopausal dry eye.

An important Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water objective is education regarding the growing worldwide crisis in dry eye disease. Untreated dry eye, according to Sharon Kleyne, can lead to corneal ulceration, visual impairment and blindness. In the United States, dry eye symptoms are the number one complaint that ophthalmologists hear from patients,

Sharon Kleyne asked Dr. Barber about eye care and occupational health, noting that employers are usually unaware of the impact on tear film and vision of forced-air heating and cooling, office computers, etc. Dr. Barber observed that this is an area where education could be very helpful. She noted that human nature is to take one's vision for granted - until something bad happens.

In response to Sharon Kleyne's question about the importance of sleep and rest in preventing or minimizing dry eye, Dr. Barber noted that sleep and rest are essential to eye health. It is important, she stated, to truly rest your eyes at night, and allow them to recover, which means (among other things) not wearing contact lenses to bed. The tear film restores itself while you sleep - the glands recharge, the pH drops, e women's coats tc.

Sharon asked about patients with eye-stressing occupations or lifestyles, such as truck drivers or motorcycle riders. According to Dr. Barber, those occupations all involve intense concentration or staring and as a result, the person often forgets to blink often enough, which increases the rate of tear film moisture (water) evaporation. The best way to prevent or minimize occupational dry eye is to use eye protection such as goggles or a face shield. Pre-treatment with a product such as eye drops or Nature's Tears EyeMist before motorcycling, can also be helpful.

Regarding computers, they also involve staring that decreases the blink rate. Dr. Barber suggests frequent breaks to rest your eyes, making sure there isn't a vent blowing on you, and positioning yourself to look slightly down on the computer screen.

The interview concluded with a lengthy discussion of menopausal dry eye. Dr. Barber recommended treating menopausal dry eye as you would hot flashes: Get sufficient exercise, drink lots of water, and try to stay in a cool place and wear layered clothing so you can cool yourself off.

Sharon noted that exercise reduces stress and promotes better functioning of all body systems. However, exercise can be dehydrating. Dr. Barber agreed and observed that for some women approaching menopause, moderate daily exercise would probably suffice. She stressed that anyone training for a marathon, no matter what their age or gender, should be extremely meticulous about hydration and water intake. Swimmers should be careful of chlorine exposure.

EyeMist?, a breakthrough hand-held personal all-natural water humidifying device for occupational and menopausal dry eye. Nature's Tears? Fashion Design Competition: New Social Networking Site Inspirare.com to Launch Fashion Careers

Inspirare.com announced a fashion design competition, giving up-and-coming designers a chance to have their garments manufactured, promoted and sold for free. The social networking fashion site is offering a total of 30 various prizes for 30 entrants in the competition, which currently runs until May 31, 2012, but that date may be extended.

The winner will have 200 garments manufactured, and that style will be the first design listed on the Inspirare shop. They will also receive a trip to San Francisco or $1,600 to spend at Net-A-Porter. Twenty-nine runners-up will receive iPads or gift vouchers to Net-A-Porter.com. There is no fee for entry into the competition.

The event is being used to promote the launch of Inspirare.com – a fashion site with a social media twist. Through a system of votes and forums, customers decide the trends that flourish on the site. The best designs move to the top. Those trends are then manufactured and sold to the general publi women's coats online c at no cost to the designer.

Sean Peng, CEO and Founder of Inspirare.com, says, "because the fashion industry is traditionally controlled by the big fashion powerhouses, the road to success for designers is usually a long and hard one. Inspirare.com provides designers with a supportive and socially involved platform where they can launch their careers."

Because it's a social site dedicated to fashion, emerging designers have a new way to connect directly with the customer, and the customer has an easy way to give feedback to designers. That platform allows designers to test products in their market, and it paves the way for smaller labels in the fashion scene.

The company boasts some impressive benefits for evolving designers. It funds 100 percent of selected projects, provides worldwide exposure and takes on all of the financial risk. Designers can focus solely on design, because production and logistics are on the company. In addition, designers receive royalties of up to 20 percent for every garment sold.

In order to submit a project for consideration, designers must first apply and be accepted into the program. They can then submit up to three women's wear design entries into the competition.
