Jessica Eaves Mathews has been named the winner of a Silver Stevie? Award in a Female Entrepreneur of the Year category in the 9th annual Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
The Stevie Awards for Women in Business are the world's top honors for female entrepreneurs, executives, and the organizations they run. All individuals and organizations worldwide are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small. The 2012 awards received entries from 17 nations and territories.
More than 1,200 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Entrepreneur of the Year, Executive of the Year, Company of the Year, Mentor of the Year, Women Helping Women, and Communications Campaign of the Year, among others. Mathews won in the Female Entrepreneur of the Year category for Business Services with 10 or Less Employees.
"I love that the Stevie Awards for Women in Business were created to recognize the amazing work of the women around this country and around the world that are working to help build our national and global future," Mathews said. "I believe that women entrepreneurs are what will save our economy. As the Dalai Lama said, "Western Women will Save the World." Mathews has launched a number of successful companies over the years in industries as diverse as legal services, business coaching, and fashion. She is co-author of the upcoming book Wonder Women: How Western Women Will women's jackets Save the World, Founder and CEO of the women's golf fashion line Grace & Game, and Founder and CEO of Leverage a Lawyer, a national, virtual law firm designed for entrepreneurs and small businesses. Mathews also accepted a Gold Stevie Award on behalf of Leverage a Lawyer in the New Company of the Year category at the November 9th awards ceremony.
