Readers to Witness the Rise and Fall of Spade Cooley

A gripping story of fame, family, and murder awaits readers as veteran writer-author Ellen Melinkoff gives readers a glance at the King of Western Swing's life. In this recently published book, Spade Cooley: A Novel, people will get to know Donnell Clyde Cooley, a Western swing musician, big band leader, and television personality, who was convicted for killing his second wife.

In the 1940s and '50s, Spade Cooley, the King of Western Swing, played to sellout crowds at the Santa Monica Ballroom. He charmed audiences with his fine fiddling, self-deprecating manner, and bounce-all-over-the-stage exuberance. Adapting his ballroom show for live television, The Spade Cooley Show began broadcasting in 1948 and made Cooley the top local television entertainer for several years.

He married one of his band singers, Ella Mae Evans. Their fifteen-year marriage was plagued with Cooley's drunk and jealous rage and ended with Cooley beating his wife to death. The front-page trial ended with Cooley's conviction in 1961. But how will Cooley fare inside the prison walls—and out of the limelight?

Spade Cooley: A Novel lets readers follow the rise to stardom and the rock-bottom fall of one of the well-admired and applauded musicians of the twentieth century.

Eva Alexander's A/W 2012 Maternity Wear Collection is a Modern Take on Iconic Classics - Maternity has Never Looked so Stylish

One favourite from the collection is the knit maternity dress. This season the ponte knit dress is the must have for every woman's closet and the brighter the color the better. Eva Alexander hasn't missed a beat and this dress is a wardrobe essential designed to be worn both during and after a woman's pregnancy. It's perfect for a woman who is looking for something elegant and tailored, yet comfortable and easy to wear. Made in an exquisite Italian ponte knit or for colder climates, a luxuriously soft merino wool knit, this dress also streamlines a woman's figure helping create a feminine silhouette even when it seems like it just can't be done at 8 months.

Another must have is the Eva tailored maternity dress. It's stylish and it's sexy, enough said. Regardless of the fact that it's brilliant for the office, if a woman is looking to channel her inner Victoria Beckham during pregnancy, this is the dress. Pair it with the matching wrap tie jacket and a pair of sunglasses and the diva will shine, never mind the quick stop for a second lunch and another brief visit to the ladies room.

The silk tunic paired with the Lauren Pant is modern and sophisticated. During a season when every pant had been made with a skinny leg, these maternity pants are refreshingly chic and metropolitan.

The favourites aside, the Eva Alexander A/W 2012 maternity wear collection includes a wide range of well designed separates in luxury fabrics and a variety of colors. They are maternity clothes that make a woman look and feel beautiful.

Eva Alexander launched it's online maternity wear shop at http://www.eva-alexander.com in January of 2011, and has quickly become one of the trendsetters in maternity wear fashion. The View’s Daytime Emmy® Award-Winning Talk Show Co-Host, Sherri Shepherd Helps College Students Feed Homeless Veterans

Founded in 2000, EMBRACE is a nonprofit organization that provides social and physical wellness programs serving underprivileged communities in San Diego, CA. Embrace programs are designed to connect college students to the multi-cultural community through volunteerism and service-learning. The organization is built on the philosophy of UNITY and encourages serving less fortunate members of civilian and veteran communities by bringing women's jackets people together irrespective of their race, religion or cultural upbringing.

Sean Sheppard, founder of EMBRACE was leading a group of college student volunteers to serve the homeless and while serving, Mr. Sheppard met Debbie Clark who played the character "Storm" on American Gladiators from 1991 to 1993. Clark, now 47 became homeless after an injury to her knee which ended her American Gladiator career. Sean Sheppard helped the homeless Ex-American Gladiator and her son by providing shelter and food and reached out to others for assistance. The media became aware of his efforts to aid mother and son, including AOL News, who wrote an article on this unfortunate story of an American Gladiator that was now homeless.

After reading the AOL News story of Storm and her son's homelessness, Sherri Shepherd began her support by providing Clark and son with 6 months of rent along with utilities. Since then, Sherri Shepherd has been a fan of EMBRACE and on May 24, 2011 she announced on The View talk show that she and fiancée, Lamar Sally would like their wedding guests and fans to donate to EMBRACE in lieu of wedding gifts for their upcoming August wedding. "The compassion & dedication that Sean displays everyday in helping those less fortunate is what drew me to the Embrace organization," said Sherri Shepherd.

EMBRACE has provided food, clothing, blankets and referrals to thousands homeless veterans and civilians that include women and children. The organization is comprised mostly of college student volunteers who donate their time and talent each week to serve the community in a variety of ways. Since the economic downturn, their focus has been on homeless civilian and veteran populations. "Just like water and solar power, college students are a natural resource that is routinely underutilized when it comes to addressing community problems. They care little about skin color, political affiliation, religious beliefs or ethnicity; they just want to help those who need it. They have been an invaluable resource to the Southern California community in a multitude of ways," said Sheppard.

"EMBRACE is very appreciative that Sherri Shepherd is assisting to serve the homeless population in San Diego through her time, talent, and resources. The homeless civilian and veteran populations are increasing as is the operating cost associated with a growing organization. We rely on donations, grants and corporate sponsorship and feel blessed that Sherri was compelled to assist us in such a personal way to shed light on EMBRACE's cause, "added Sean Sheppard.

Even more top designer labels now available at sexy lingerie online retailer Ladyloca.co.uk, lowest prices anywhere in the UK together exceptional with customer service

The best designer labels at the best possible prices is something of an expectancy from consumers of sexy lingerie products, that's why Ladyloca.co.uk have once again took the initiative and sourced even better high quality products at the lowest possible prices from the most distinguished brands within the lingerie industry.

Any reputable retailer of women's clothing and sexy lingerie will agree that only authentic high quality clothing should be presented to customers, certainly not cheap imitation goods that may look rather tempting in regards to pricing but fail miserably in regards to quality.

The online women's lingerie industry contains both a combination of both reputable retailers and those other rather dubious retailers that are promoting the sale of imitation goods that propose to be the real deal but in fact simply are not, leaving customers to feel the ultimate sense of frustration and anguish when they receive goods that are quite simply failing in quality and value for money.

It's a natural practice and rather understandable for customers to seek sexy clothing products at the best possible prices, however one must remain aware that the lowest price does not always mean the best value for money, the gulf in quality between imitation lingerie and authentic is vast and significant.

To achieve ultimate satisfaction and sense of fulfillment, customers are strongly advised to favour the authentic quality brands as opposed to the much cheaper and imitated goods that are available online, quality shall always prevail in the end, and what might look like a deal of a lifetime, usually in fact results in a sour transaction with no salvage or solution.

The International Women's Society of Nigeria Presents Its Humanitarian of the Year Award to Africa.com CEO Teresa Clarke

President Cecilia Aqua Umoren, the Executive Committee and Board of the International Women's Society (IWS) of Nigeria presented their Humanitarian of the Year Award to Africa.com Chairman and CEO Teresa Clarke on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.
Attorney Olayimika Phillips, a partner at Olaniwun Ajayi & Co, where she heads the enterprise practice as well as corporate affairs, planning and strategy, accepted the award on behalf of her long-time friend. Ms. Clarke had to be in South Africa for a meeting involving the education non-profit which she co-founded, the Student Sponsorship Programme (http://www.ssp.org.za/ ). However, she will be in Nigeria next week and plans to thank President Umoren in person.
In her prepared remarks, Ms. Clarke praised the 54-year old International Women's Society of Nigeria for its long history and its commitment to child care for working mothers, library services, and assisting the unemployed attain skills to enter the workforce. She said that future demands on the organization will be significant, given major trends domestically as well as internationally.
Ms. Clarke cited the United Nations' projection that by the end of this century, Nigeria will be one of the three largest countries in the world, based on current population and fertility rates.
Said Ms. Clarke: "It will be hard for the Nigerian government to keep up with the demands that this population growth will place on social services. Helping the Nigerian government serve the needs of women by providing day nurseries, homes for abandoned babies, library services, scholarships, skills training and the very important widow's fund, will be essential as the Nigerian population grows, and the needs of Nigeria's women increase accordingly. The work that IWS does for women in Nigeria will grow in its importance over the next 100 years."
Ms. Clarke also reflected on the IWS' increasingly important role in fostering relations across international borders, especially now that numerous global companies are "moving into Nigeria to serve Nigerians, not extract its natural resources." She noted that multinational companies "want to sell their products and services to the increasingly wealthy, and ever growing large population in Nigeria. They want to sell Nigerians their burgers, their cars, their clothes, and provide Nigerians with their computers, entertainment, and communications." She added: " These new global companies moving into Nigeria must develop meaningful, long term relationships in Nigeria, with the Nigerian people, in order to achieve success. They must know who these people are, understand them, and befriend them. The human aspect of this type of business is essential for their success. All of this means that IWS' role is fashion coats that much more important as Nigeria integrates itself into the global economy. "
